Job duties:

  • Assist the molding operations to improve change over and response times to processing and/or production needs.

  • Safely use overhead cranes for the installation and removal of injection molds.
  • As time permits and help relieve for breaks and fills in during personnel shortages.
  • Support an injection molding operation with a direct labor headcount of over 10+ employees and 3-4 mechanics in a three shift 24/7 operation facility.

This position will improve quality, cost and delivery by: 

 

Reducing machine downtime during mold and color changeovers, better turnover time for machine maintenance and repair, quicker response time to molding press related problems, and monitor product quality.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:     

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 2 years of mechanical and process troubleshooting experience in an injection molding environment.

Additional Qualifications:

  • Computer experience including MS office.
  • Ability to read and understand the english language to ensure adherence to documented procedures and current specifications.
  • Ability to read and understand part drawings and process set-up sheets is desired.
  • Fork truck experience and license.
  • Experience with inspection tools and procedures.
  • Consistently work within safety guidelines and PPE requirements to assure employee and equipment safety.

Position Summary:

The Lead Advanced Process Engineer is responsible for manufacturing techniques needed for the optimization of processes within the manufacturing environment, including the development and maintenance of process design, cost estimating, and the sharing of best practices within Cooper Standard. This position works closely with Sales, Engineering, Finance, Purchasing and Cost Estimating. This position will focus on small diameter tube manufacturing.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Works closely with Cooper Standard’s manufacturing facilities to reduce cost, improve quality and achieve advancements in both process and product technology.
  • Assist in quote process by reviewing Cooper Standard capabilities and desired location.
  • Manages projects for new small diameter (single wall) tube mill and coating lines globally.
  • Tracks progress, status and reports on small diameter single wall tube mills and components of completed coating lines
  • Leads the research and implementation of new or improved equipment/tooling/processes to satisfy changing production requirements.
  • Assists in the validation of new processes, as necessary. May be required to obtain/negotiate approval or revisions to customer product specifications.
  • Leads troubleshooting issues on new and existing tube mills and coating lines
  • Initiates projects and tasks through creative insight, leveraging manufacturing and product knowledge.
  • Confirms feasibility/capability of proposed product/process improvements using statistical methods.

Job Description-Fuel Systems Assembly-Plastic Injection Molding

 
This role will be responsible for the management and coordination of all production floor operations including the safety and morale of employees, the molding and assembly operations, housekeeping and equipment with the objective of improving the plant's performance in safety, cost, delivery and quality. This position oversees the receipt and movement of released product to all necessary production, inspection and test areas as subassemblies or end items manufactured. This position is accountable for the overall production plan delivery, provides input to shipment schedules, plans and forecasts as knowledge of production status develops. Identifies bottlenecks in the production flow and ensures that necessary labor, material, and support are applied to relieve the bottleneck applying lean manufacturing systems.

Mandatory Requirements:

  • Degree in Plastics Technology or Industrial or Manufacturing Engineering with extensive technical and supervisory background is absolutely required
  • Minimum 3-5 years supervisory experience in a high-volume, fast-paced manufacturing environment
  • Extensive Plastic Injection Molding experience is absolutely required
  • Technical background in the automotive industry highly desired
  • Must be Lean systems knowledgeable Experienced in implementing 5S, Six Sigma and Black Belt initiatives
  • Strong financial acumen

Extrusion Tool Engineer

Position Summary:

Responsible for the design, acquisition and implementation of prototype and production EPDM extrusion tooling. This position is required to support Seal Plant Rubber and Plastic Extrusion operations.  Additional responsibilities include, but are not bound by the following list of job duties.
 

  1. Works with Process Engineers, Laboratory personnel, Quality Assurance personnel and manufacturing to design production capable extrusion tooling.
  2. Instructs shift supervisors on operation of new tooling and equipment.
  3. Follows new production jobs to ensure that parts meet specifications and that new tooling is production capable.
  4. Works with the Laboratory on customer material requirements and testing of samples.
  5. Follows new jobs as regular production is started in an effort to eliminate or minimize problems associated with new job start up.
  6. Keeps up to date on competitor’s sealing systems on the market and investigates new processes that may allow Cooper-Standard Automotive to produce a competitive seal.
  7. Advises sales personnel on potential new business when requested.  On occasion, assists in the preparation of a quotation.
  8. Works with industrial engineers in setting job standards.  Prepares written reports on various functions performed as appropriate or as required.
  9. Supports the Quality Management Systems and Environmental Management Systems for the Plant.
  10. Works directly with personnel in running experimental samples and notes problems that might be encountered if the part were to be run in regular production.  Checks experimental samples for dimensions, arranges required test and completes sample report form.

 3 to 5 years of on the job experience in the field of EPDM Rubber Extrusion Tool Design Engineering
CAD Design experience, SolidWorks is preferable.
Rubber Extrusion processing and tooling design experience 
Knowledge of machine shop operations for CNC and EDM processes
Understanding of Fluid Dynamics.
 
1/3 of the time will be on the floor hands on trouble shooting the process or running die trials on new tools
1/3 of the time will be testing of product and evaluation.
1/3 of the time will be spent on the CAD system working on actual tooling design.
